Multi-Antenna Diversity — A New Transmit Diversity Scheme for Wireless Communications

چکیده

In this paper, we propose multi-antenna diversity (MAD), a new transmit diversity scheme for wireless communications. Specifically, MAD selects the optimal transmit antenna with the best channel quality to send data. Due to its greatly simplified architecture, MAD guarantees the simple decoding without imposing any constraints on the issues such as code delay, code rate, antenna number, and modulation method, etc. We also develop the analytical framework to evaluate the performance of MAD from different perspectives. We show that MAD performs better than space-time block codes (STBC), while the processing complexity is lower than STBC. The superiority of MAD over STBC increases significantly as the number of transmit antennas gets larger.
